Guess which profession drinks the most coffee
A couple of years ago, there was a poll of 4700 American workers that showed which professions needed the most coffee in order to survive the day.
Is your job on the list? If you’re involved in anything scientific, particularly research, the answer is a very jittery, highly caffeinated and buzzing “yes.”
Among those polled, scientists and lab techs were found to be the heaviest coffee drinkers in America. That’s probably not that surprising when you think that science and the research that surrounds it is a 24 hour job.
With a 24 hour job, you’d well be entitled to a good sugar hit to really hit the spot with your coffee.
Remember all those experiments that you ran at school for chemistry, there was always one constant… Time!
A lot of scientists are under a lot of pressure to get their results out to the masses before a competing lab, and with limited funding, it means that these brainy boffins have to put in countless hours writing grant proposals when all they really want to do is to create some scientific magic!
The same could probably be said about Cake Decorators, although instead of writing proposals, they are simply beavering away and creating cake magic, but with such hard work, it’s inevitable that you’ll need a pick me up!
So here’s to you, workers of Australia, for all that you do. And here’s to coffee, for helping you do it. Just remember not to work too hard too much of the time, and have a coffee when you want to, not because you need to. There’s a word that’s commonly associated with coffee and that word is break!
